The BCM5464R consists of four complete 10/100/1000BASE-T gigabit Ethernet transceivers integrated on a single CMOS chip and is Broadcom's QuadSquad ™ Series 4 Gigabit Ethernet member physical layer. BCM5464R is optimized for low power consumption and small size to achieve high port density applications. BCM5464R supports a to drive the delivery of gigabit bandwidth to the desktop by reducing the cost and power consumption of the new economical gigabit Ethernet device of the system by nearly 25%.
 
BCM5464R is based on the architecture of digital signal processor and advanced power management technology to achieve robust and low-power operation through the existing Category 5 twisted pair. The BCM5464R architecture not only meets the requirements of IEEE 802.3, 802.3u and 802.3ab standards, but also maintains the highest level in the industry higher than the requirements of IEEE for echo, NEXT and FEXT. The key to achieving high-density gigabit switches and BCM5464R with low power consumption is the lowest power consumption in the industry, 750 mW per port. In addition, the BCM5464R has extremely low EMI radiation, thus reducing the restrictions required for the design to meet EMI radiation specifications.
