Overview of the Chip

The TPS92402MRRVR LED point controller device can provide pixel-level LED dimming control up to 2.5A within a wide input range of 4.5V to 65V, thus enabling an 8-channel independent lighting solution. The TPS92402MRRVR includes a series (8 in series) of integrated shunt FETs, each of which can provide PWM dimming for a single LED. With the help of a shunt FET string, this device can support a constant current regulator and is suitable for leds connected through a common anode or common cathode.

 

The TPS92402MRRVR features an internal oscillator capable of generating system clock signals, thereby supporting integrated PWM generators up to 16 bits and programmable PWM frequencies up to 60kHz. The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) enables high-speed data transmission and supports daisy-chain and star connections. SPI and the optimized pin arrangement support multiple devices to be connected together in a stacked configuration, thereby achieving a single-layer PCB.

 

The TPS92402MRRVR contains registers that can be used to program the PWM pulse width, slew rate, edge offset and open-circuit voltage of individual leds in a string of lights. It can also be used to report LED open circuits, LED short circuits, split FET open circuits and thermal warnings. The internal charge pump integrates spread spectrum function, which can enhance EMI performance. The TPS92402MRRVR also offers PWM dimming control for constant current regulators and can achieve multi-channel power-saving functions, thereby significantly enhancing dimming efficiency, especially under low-brightness conditions.
